  1. Amphibians are cold blooded animals which can stay both in water and on land.
  2. Turtles have been on the earth for more than 200 million years. Amazingly they evolved before mammals, birds, crocodiles, snakes, and even lizards.
  3. Sea turtles excrete salt absorbed in sea water from their eyes, which is why they seem to cry.
  4. The shell of a turtle is amazingly made up of 60 different bones all connected together.
  5. Most tortoise species can live up to more than hundred years of age.
  6. One can determine the sex of tortoise amazingly by their tail. Male tortoises have long tails whereas females have short tail. Male tails are kept tucked to the side.
  7. Giant tortoises keep growing their whole lives.
  8. It’s amazing that tortoises drink water through their noses.  Also tortoises do not have teeth.
