  1. The jackfruit tree originated from South Asia. It is a tropical plant, thriving in areas where temperatures are warm and moisture is abundant.
  2. The scientific name of Jackfruit is Artocarpus heterophyllus.
  3. Jackfruit is a big tree that can grow to as high as 30 meters. Almost all the parts of the tree secrete white sticky latex-like milk (juice) upon injury.
  4. The jackfruit is recognized as the largest tree fruit which can grow as big as 3 feet long and 18 inches wide and weigh as much as 25 Kg. Jackfruit outer surface is covered with blunt thorn-like projections, which become soft as the fruit ripe.
  5. Jackfruits usually grow from the trunk and larger branches rather than the outer stems of the tree like most fruits do. In a single year, the jackfruit tree can produce as many as 250 fruits.
